Top 10 Wedding First Dance Songs 2011 – Part 2/5

Welcome to Part 2 of The Top 10 Wedding First Dance Songs for 2011. It features Luther Vandross and Etta James, both brilliant singers with a trail of ballads to their names.

Luther Vandross – Always And Forever

Originally sung by disco-funk band Heatwave (wikipedia), Luther Vandross covered the romantic ballad. No matter which version you listen to, the words are meaningful and touching. From young, I’ve personally loved Luther Vandross’ music, so if you like this song, it’s nostalgic definitely.

“Everyday love me your own special way,
Melt all my heart away with a smile,
Take time to tell me you really care,
And we’ll share tomorrow together,
I’ll always love you”

A Popular Wedding Classic by Etta James

Etta James’ version of the beautiful ‘At Last’ may be the most known and popular version of the song, that even contemporary R&B singer Beyonce paid homage to it in the evening of President’s Inauguration as Barack and Michelle Obama took the first dance. It’s no surprise couples have it as a first dance when you take into consideration the words, ‘At last, my love has come along, My lonely days are over‘ with the song ending with ‘And here we are in heaven, For you are mine at last.’

This is definitely a wedding first dance classic!

There’s another 6 songs to go after this. Hopefully you find these posts useful and resourceful in finding your first dance song.
