Jam Releases His Highly Anticipated New Album, ‘Best Before My Time’

Best Before My Time” is the brain-child album of Jam aka MusicByJam where he unleashes a mix of funk, rapping, bossa-nova, soul and grime. And I got the chance to listen to it.

I can’t believe how good this guy is! Where’s He Been? Jam’s refreshing album got me out of my blogging hibernation!

@MusicByJam — Let’s Fly [Official Video] from Jam on Vimeo.

My favourite song of the album is Let’s Fly (above), which starts with violins, then organs and synths before an infectious drum beat hits. My second favourite is Round And Round, maybe because it has that funky Californian bass-line.

He definitely keeps the old-school-nu-school hybrid going with numbers like Nothing Like You which reminds me of Dam-Funk a little bit, and I Digress is definitely a summer car-top-down catchy tune with serious lyrics underneath as he talks about AIDs, single mums, under-aged sex, NATO, and what being a real student of life is about. Hopefully there’s enough sun left in 2011 to enjoy the song.

I don’t think he can contain the effortless bossa-nova in “Best Before My Time” with songs like Boas Ferias and Number One Girl. And then there’s Excuse Me, featuring trumpets and a live-retro drum beat. What more could you want from a young Londoner!

Enough of me talking.…here’s another video!
